With songs that breathe through the memory of both Eastern and Western popular/roots music, Kaze No Matasunny’s music bleeds through the tobacco-stained walls of backstreet boozers and forgotten cafes. In the distance—the sounds of the tuba, violin, and pianica are accented by lively percussion, which travel across several nameless streets of Kyoto. Following these distant sounds, spectators and passerbys are seen joining a funeral parade. In Kaze No Matasunny’s Second Line, listeners will find themselves wanting to a follow and engage the upbeat music, waving parasols and cocktails napkins through the neighborhood.
