Sumiyoshi Remix

かきつばた『スミヨシ』をリリースするに際して、かきつばたのバンド・サウンドをより時代を越えた形で記録するために、リミックス／リコンストラクトを施したアルバムを制作。本来、オリジナル盤とともに、ヴァイナル２枚組でリリースされる予定の作品で、かきつばたのサウンドにまったく新しい解釈が吹き込まれている。

西川が「天才」と絶賛するオオルタイチがバンジョーとヴォーカルで、ウタモがキーボードやオルガン、妙なる歌声で参加。そして、河村光司のペンによる三田村管打団？のブラス隊をオーバーダブした後、西川の手によってリコンストラクトされたサウンドが、瑞々しくも美しく輝く。また、M-2は、彼らの師匠とも言えるインプロヴァイザー／ギタリスト内橋和久をリミキサーに迎え、大胆なサウンドエディットが加えられた逸品だ。

かきつばたの浮遊感をより高き場所まで押し上げた、天空のサウンド。『スミヨシ』とは対比的な音創りをぜひ楽しんでいただきたい。

For the release of Kakitsubata's "Sumiyoshi", the band remixed and reconstructed the album in order to record the band's sound in a more timeless form. Originally, this album was to be released on vinyl together with the original, giving a completely new interpretation of the Kakizubata sound.

Oorutaichi, who Nishikawa praises as a "genius", plays banjo and vocals, while YTAMO contributes keyboards, organ and a strange singing voice. And then there's the Mitamurakandadan?, penned by Koji Kawamura. The sound of Nishikawa's reconstructed brass corps, after overdubbing the band's brass corps, shines through in a fresh and beautiful way. M-2 is a masterpiece of sound editing with the help of their mentor, improviser/guitarist Kazuhisa Uchihashi as a remixer.

It's a heavenly sound that pushes the floating sensation of kakitubata to a higher place. I hope you will enjoy the contrast in sound creation between this album and "Sumiyoshi".
