Since the 2010s, Nanzan University American Folk Music Study Group, commonly known as "Ameken", has played an important role in the alternative music of the Tokai region. Alumni of the group include Curlys, Super Gussun Oyoyos, Eri Nagami, Chaotic Girl Syndrome, Nana Horisaki, MILK, and Teto Pettenson. Founded in 2009, Turalica was the most out-there band in the scene.

Takumi Yokoyama, guitarist and vocalist, was a high school student who liked Stone Roses and Chage & Aska, but who’s tastes changed after entering the Ameken social circle’s sphere of influence. Yokoyama wanted to make his own music, whilst approximating the sounds of acts including Sakana and Captain Beefheart. Yokoyama invited Onishi, a classmate from junior high school, and Izumi, a drummer with perfect pitch but curiously without the ability to play the same thing twice.

Recorded in 2014 and released in 2016, the second album, "Ougon no Kutsu”, meaning Golden Shoes, is an attempt at creating an excessive rock and roll band illusion through music that isn't really rock and roll at all. A transparent shout, harmolodic play, and a delicate rock that disappears in an instant make up the band’s sound.

南山大学アメリカ民謡研究会、通称「アメ研」は2010年代以降の東海地方のオルタナティブな音楽に対して、重要な役割を果たしました。

カーリーズ、スーパーグッスンオヨヨズ、永見恵利、カオティックガールシンドローム、堀嵜菜那、MILK、テトペッテンソン、などがかつて在籍。

2009年に結成されたトゥラリカは、その周辺で最も異質でした。

ギターとボーカルの横山匠は、ストーンローゼス、チャゲ＆飛鳥が好きな高校生だったが、このサークルに入った頃に趣向が変わりました。

自分自身の音楽で違った形のsakanaとキャプテンビーフハートを目指したい、と思うようになり、中学からの同級生の大西と、絶対音感を持つのに同じ事が2回できないドラマー泉を誘い活動を開始。2014年録音、2016年リリースで2作目のアルバムとなる「黄金の靴」では、過剰なロックンロール幻想、バンド幻想を持ちつつ、全くロックンロールっぽくない音楽を作る事に挑戦しています。透明なシャウトとハーモロディックな演奏、瞬時に消え去ってゆく繊細なロック。
