In the autumn of 2023, when Nina walked through the door of Pela Pela, Charlie Schoolmaster gasped: “Nina Hagan.” Time and space slowly dissolved into saw solos, chants, smoke, and laughter, and somewhere inside it a new form of being emerged: moss people.
In this current alignment, moss people are embodied by, but not limited to, multidisciplinary artist Nina DesNuits, multi-instrumentalist Ryan Ball, and pianist/trombonist Steve Peck.
Sketches, field recordings, and unfinished songs gathered slowly over time. As tiny spores settle on fallen logs and gradually become carpets of green, these four pieces coalesced slowly into the form heard here on their first EP.
With thanks to the family and friends who gave the spores somewhere to settle, and time to grow.
Dedicated to the memory of Stephen Andrew Ball.
