Michikusa

Tail, which was born in the Coctail Bookstore in Koenji, is just going to release a new work. 'tail' is the name of the band, a special three horns orchestra named with a play on words by Saya from Tenniscoats, who was at the band's first live show. The unique ensemble of trombones, clarinets, and tubas, based in the low-mid range, is very expressive, suddenly emitting a piercing scream, humorously using portamento to stroll lazily between notes, skipping in the mid-range, and then suddenly climbing to a higher level and looking down at us from there. I thought they are skipping in the middle register, but they suddenly climbed to a higher level and was looking down at me from there. At the end of the last piece, the listener would feel that he had grabbed the tail, but it would be his own tail that he was touching.

This is the first work of a new band, Tail, composed of Kiriko Kawamatsu, Kayomiko Numata, and Hiroshi Hirose, who are active as members of Zayaendo and other bands.

高円寺のコクテイル書房で生まれたテイルが今まさに作品を発表しようとしている。 テイルはバンドの名前で、初ライブに居合わせたテニスコーツのさやの言葉遊びによって名付けられた、特殊な三管編成の楽団だ。 トロンボーン、クラリネットにチューバという、中低域を根城にした独特のアンサンブルの表情は非常に豊かで、突然割れるような叫び声を発し、諧謔的にポルタメントを駆使し音符の合間をのんびり闊歩、中音域をスキップしていると思ったら急に高みに上り詰め、そこからこちらを見下ろしているのだった。 最後の楽曲を聴き終えたところで聴者は尻尾を掴んだと実感するが、触れているのは自分のテイルだ。
