TRACKS
“Whenever I find a fantasy that is set in a genuinely imagined society and culture instead of this lazy-minded, recycled hokum, I feel like setting off fireworks.” – Ursula K. Le Guin
Mimikurige is a collaborative album between Ippei Matsui of the avant-pop group TEASI, several members of the Japanese psychedelic folk outfit Eddie Marcon, and multitalented composer Aki Tsuyuko. Perhaps in stark contrast from current endeavors in crust hardcore punk with MALIMPLIKI, Matsui brings out his more gentle side in working with his members of Wasurerogusa. The nine tracks included in Mimikurige are sometimes other-worldly and mystical, while at other times immediate and playful. One melodic phrase leads to another, feeding and entangling into an unexpected ethereal soundscape. Like a road not taken, new details emerge in an untrodden path to offer the listener a whimsical realm of “genuine imagination.” Prepare to bring a box of fireworks, roll up your sleeves, and experience an unfolding journey through fascinating worlds.
